Jersey City, New Jersey |

A settlement was started in 1630 at the peninsula of Jersey City, but Indians drove out the people later in 1654. Ten years later, the English took control of town and its surroundings. Today Jersey City is the place of Liberty State Park. From here you can launch boats to the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. Within Liberty State park, you can find exhibits, one of the largest Omnimax theaters in the world, the restored Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal, and Liberty Walk, a waterfront walkway for strolling. Visit Hamilton Park to see some of the city's restored brownstone houses from the 19th and 20th centuries. |
