    It's the busy avenues and neon excitement of Miami that have made it one of the country's most famous and popular destinations. Miami provides a destination to about 12 million visitors yearly. The city, founded in 1896, lies on Biscayne Bay at the mouth of the Miami River. Miami's legendary multi-cultural population means visitors are likely to hear Spanish, French, Creole, Portuguese, and Italian spoken on every street corner and in most shops, restaurants, and hotel. Its miles of wide, white sand beaches are known world-wide as are the city's numerous attractions.
