Knoxville, TN
Knoxville played a vital role in the early development of Tennessee. The city
was officially founded on October 3, 1791 by General James White and named in
honor of General Henry Knox, Secretary of War in President Washington's
cabinet. In 1796 Tennessee became a state and Knoxville became the first
capitol. Today Knoxville is a scenic city where nature and technology meet.
With its four gentle seasons, Knoxville provides a year-round destination for
travelers. Knoxville events include: Dogwood Arts Festival, Tennessee
International Wine Festival, and Tennessee Valley Fair.
