On the Island of Oahu, Honolulu is home to Waikaki, Diamond Head, and
thousands of tourists. In the late 1880s, guest houses were sprinklet along the
beach. It was here that author Robert Louis Stevenson stayed and was among the
first to praise the famous Waikaki Beach and surf area. Diamond Head is a
symbol of Hawaii and is one of the most recognizable landmarks on earth.
Events include: Oahu Floral Parade, Hawaiian Falsetto contest, Waikiki Shell
Concerts, Cuisines of the Pacific, and numerous ethnic festivals held
throughout Honolulu's diverse neighborhoods.
