Fresno is situated in the heart of California's 400-mile-long San Joaquin
Valley. Billed as the "World's Foodbasket," more than two million acres of
land are irrigated and cultivated to commercially grow more than 200 rotating
crops. Harvests include almonds, olives, rice, wheat, cotton, pistachios, and
peaches. Fresno's ethnic, cultural, social, and educational diversity has been
described as "all the home towns in America rolled into one." Fresno events
