The capital city of Idaho lies on the Boise River in the southwestern part of
the state. Surrounded by mountain ranges and spectacular scenery, the
community boasts a university, a symphony orchestra, a summer-long Shakespeare
festive, and outstanding museums. A 25-miles greenbelt runs along the river
shoreline and serves as a recreation site for walkers, joggers, cyclists and a
home to ducks, geese, beaver, and otters. Historic buildings and a
geothermally heated Capitol Building welcome residents and visitors. Annual
events include the Boise River Festival, Art in the Park, and Festival of the
Trees.
