    Waldo County is located in mid-coast Maine on Penobscot Bay. Encompassing 734 square miles, Waldo County's 26 municipalities include Belfast (the county seat), Unity, Searsport, and 23 other rural towns. Waldo County area events include: Belfast Winter Carnival, Fleece Festival, Fourth of July, Strawberry Festival, Belfast Bay Festival, Downeast Chili Cookoff, and Open Farm Day.

     Take a ride along the scenic mid-coat bay aboard a colorful historic train. Narrative provided on every ride and appearances are made by the notorious Waldo Station Gang. Special seasonal trips include fall foliage, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

     Since 1912 the Colonial has presented movies and live performances. It's a National Historic Site and houses three theatres, two Perry Nut House elephants, one vintage popcorn machine, and an endless stream of films and performances.

     Fort Knox State Historic Site

     Open daily, 9 a.m. to sunset, from May 1 to November 1. Guided tours available daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Named after Major General Henry Knox, the memorable features are the large Rodman cannon, granite construction, enlisted and officer quarters, exhibits, and displays. Numerous special events occur during the year including Civil War re-enactments, Fort Knox Bay Festival, Penobscot River Festival, and Spirits of Fort Knox.
